Sam Poynter

I live in a crowded place where the news is often nothing more than publicized complaints or updates on the status of previously publicized complaints. This latter kind of thing seems to be the hallmark of democracy. Tomkins once wrote that in a democracy, shame is only ever empathic.

I read some. I work. Mainly, I stand in line. My name is Sam Poynter and I like to write about art and the news.
